Haiku has wonderful views. When one looks outward, everywhere you look is another beautiful vista both close by and in the distance, yet privacy is maintained. The unique architectural style of Haiku allows cooling trade winds to flow through the rooms. Many of the island animals take advantage of the garden’s native plantings. It is not unusual to see, iguanas, lizards, butterflies and birds of all kinds visiting Haiku while you’re there. Put some sugar out in the bird feeder to lure hummingbirds and bananaquits. Some of the best moments come just lounging in the swimming pool, looking at the sailboats in Chocolate Hole, having an evening cocktail while watching the sun set, or relaxing in the hot tub while seeing the Milky Way more clearly than you ever could in a city.
We know you will enjoy your stay at Haiku.....

Fun and relaxing Arrived March 12, 2022. Posted April 1, 2022 “Haiku was a very different kind of place for us. But we absolutely loved it. The interaction with the local wildlife was fun and I was able to get lots of pictures of birds around the feeder in the morning and evenings. The Bananaquits, Bullfinch (might have been a Tanager??), Scaly Necked Pigeons, T’rushies, Doves, Hummingbirds and pair of Kestrel all visited during our stay. The iguanas made a few appearances and allowed for pictures. As each day passed, we enjoyed the property more and more. Nakira was prompt in meeting us and informing us of the property. We can see why many guests return”..Tracy

Perfect Location October 2021
“Haiku was the perfect spot, close enough for a quick drive into Cruz Bay yet secluded and quiet. The pool was perfect after our days at the beaches, and we had breakfast every morning at the outdoor table while enjoying the view. The property managers were quick to respond to any questions and very accommodating when we had to change our dates because of a sick pet.”..Lisa
..."Heaven in St John"- Haiku;.. "Just a brief email to thank you for renting your house to us from 2/25-3/3. My family and I had the best time. Our 10 month old granddaughter began crawling there, and our grandson went snorkeling everyday at Hawksnest. The graciousness of everyone on St. John was fantastic from Carefree to the locals. And the house was magnificent. We just loved it. Actually, I would not go to sleep until I had seen the stars at 2AM. Unbelievable. The aquamarine water, just everything. Superb! How lovely to have a cup of coffee poolside in the AM and to just sit and read and unwind. Recommended for:Sightseeing, people with disabilities, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers. Eleanor (Manhasset, NY )"....
..."We are having a marvelous time. You have been very responsive, as always, to our requests. The kids and grand kids always look forward to coming. The little guys alternate the pool and the hot tub for half the day...Linda and Gordon..."
..."Bob and I had the most Amazing Week of our Lives staying at Haiku. The pictures of this Villa do not do it Justice!! The open air living area, was just Amazing. With the Constant Breeze and the beautiful view, we would without a doubt stay here again!! What a wonderful way to experience, "Island Living"! Thank You so very much, and we will definitely be booking through Carefree Again!! Yours Truly, Michelle Healy"...
.....Beautiful and comfortable nature's retreat...We couldn't be more pleased with our stay at Haiku on St John. We go to St John to enjoy its natural beauty, warm and tourquoise waters, slow pace and friendly environment. Haiku to us was a microcosm of St John; it's a beautiful house, with comfortable bedrooms and baths, and an open concept living/dining room that is literally open to the outside. You dine and lounge while watching all that nature holds, the beautiful foliage, water views, sunsets, and enjoy a pool and hot tub that seems to be right inside the house! There is a nicely furnished kitchen, and televisions and air-conditioning, but the closeness to nature that is what this house is all about. You will see geckos, and a occational iquana too! This house is not sterile, cookie-cutter hotel room, but a unique nature lover's paradise. We loved how close the house is to town (5 minutes) and to the Westin Hotel just down the hill for some easy dining and amenities. We loved Haiku and look forward to returning there again! ...Marti Washington D.C. ...."
FEBRUARY 2017 This was our 23rd year to St. John and our 10th year at Haiku. Friends and family visited with us. As always, Cindy, Mo and the Carefree staff take good care of us.
